How Much Did AutoWeb’s(NASDAQ:AUTO) Shareholders Earn From Share Price Movements Over The Last Five Years?

It is a pleasure to report that the AutoWeb, Inc. (NASDAQ:AUTO) is up 224% in the last quarter. But will that repair the damage for the weary investors who have owned this stock as it declined over half a decade? Probably not. Indeed, the share price is down a whopping 80% in that time. While the recent increase might be a green shoot, we’re certainly hesitant to rejoice. The real question is whether the business can leave its past behind and improve itself over the years ahead.

We really feel for shareholders in this scenario. It’s a good reminder of the importance of diversification, and it’s worth keeping in mind there’s more to life than money, anyway.

See our latest analysis for AutoWeb

Because AutoWeb made a loss in the last twelve months, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now.

The location technology company, whose customers range from major car companies to leading global tech firms, saw sales in its automotive unit, which supplies maps and navigation software to automakers, grow 19% year-on-year while earnings fell across its other businesses in the third quarter.

TomTom’s finance chief, Taco Titulaer, predicted further growth for automotive in the fourth quarter, citing improved car production as the sector recovers from global lockdowns that shuttered showrooms and brought traffic to a halt.

Industry data showed new European car sales down just 18% in August compared to the previous year, after

Auto debt complaints are soaring during pandemic

Consumers struggling to keep up with their auto debts filed a record number of complaints with a key federal consumer watchdog agency in the first five months of the pandemic, according to a new analysis of government data released Wednesday.

The report found that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau received 2,844 complaints by borrowers, or pleas for help, on auto-related disputes from March to July, the highest of any five-month period since the CFPB started collecting consumer complaints in 2012.

The complaints showed borrowers have been hard-hit by COVID-19 after a booming decade for auto financing, but also pointed to a potentially bigger crisis brewing in the months since auto debt relief was left out of the $2 trillion Cares Act passed by Congress in March.

“In the first months of the pandemic, many auto lenders have offered relief programs to their customers. But

Rebound in auto market – Egypt – Al-Ahram Weekly

The Egyptian auto industry witnessed a 5-10 per cent rise in the price of new passenger cars in the beginning of the fourth quarter of the year after seeing a noticeable recovery in sales during the third quarter of 2020.

According to experts, the coronavirus, insufficient supply, a notable rise in demand on cars as well as the increase in the euro exchange rate against the Egyptian pound led to the price hikes.

“The increase in the cost of new cars which the local market is currently witnessing is reasonable,” Ahmed Al-Mazahi, director-general of Al-Masria Auto, one of the largest showrooms in Egypt, told Al-Ahram Weekly.

The auto market hasn’t recovered from the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic as passenger car imports are limited as well as the purchases of parts used in local assembly lines, Al-Mazahi said.

Due to the lockdown and also the

Xbox Series X and S roll with Auto HDR (by default)

Today a Microsoft representative confirmed that the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S consoles will work with Auto HDR. That’s high dynamic range, turned on by default, for all titles, for both consoles. Per Peggy Lo, Compatibility Program Lead for Xbox, “this gives an extra sense of richness and depth to the image when compared to a standard dynamic range (SDR) image”.

The first time the Xbox ecosystem worked with HDR in a significant way was with Xbox One S. Unfortunate for owners of the Xbox One, “thousands of Xbox games shipped before HDR was first introduced with Xbox One S.”

Microsoft wants all the games to look as colorful, sharp, deep, and aesthetically amazing as possible, given the hardware capabilities of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. But since implementing HDR compatibility with a game takes development resources and time, they’ve decided to go ahead
