Hagen History Center to host auction featuring plenty of antiques

Oct. 15 could be a boon for Erie-region antiquers and relic hunters. 

More than 600 Hagen History Center deaccessioned artifacts that fall outside of the Erie-based history center’s collection parameters can be purchased that day at a public auction at Ploss Auction, 234, W. Washington St., in Corry.  

The auction is scheduled for 3 p.m. Auction items include antique beds, chests of drawers, trunks, baby carriages, chairs, antique sewing machines, tables and many other large objects. 

“If people are interested in antiques, they will be thrilled with some of the pieces that will be there,” Hagen History Center Curator Becky Weiser said. “They definitely should participate in the auction. There are a lot of nice things we have no strong connection to here, but would definitely appeal to the population.”

China’s auto show featuring EVs with more range opens under COVID-19 controls

Ford, Nissan and BMW unveiled electric models with more range for China on Saturday as the Beijing auto show opened under anti-virus controls that included holding news conferences by international video link.

Automakers are looking to China, the first major economy to start recovering from the coronavirus pandemic, to drive sales growth and reverse multibillion-dollar losses.

Auto China 2020, postponed from March, is the first major trade show for any industry since the pandemic began. The ruling Communist Party’s decision to go ahead with it reflects official confidence China, where the pandemic began in December, has the disease under control.
