Auto Warranty Services For Now, and For Later

When you buy your new car, you may have gotten a little caught up in the excitement of your new purchase, and maybe you didn’t pay all that much attention to the auto warranty services that were presented to you. But now you’ve had your car for a few weeks, and you have started to wonder – if something goes wrong with my fabulous new car, will it be covered under my warranty? What exactly did I get? And should I have turned down that extended warranty so quickly?

The first thing you’ll want to do is sit down, and read through your current warranty information. Yes, it’s not exactly an exciting read, but it needs to be done. There is information in this document that you will need to know. Things like the length of your manufacturer’s warranty, the number of miles you can drive before it expires, and what exactly is covered. Is it bumper-to-bumper? Drive train only? And what maintenance and other services need to be performed in order to stay qualified for repair work? These are pieces of information that will be vital to you, if you plan to own your car for a long time. If you are unsure of any of these points, or you have more questions, don’t be afraid to call the dealership, and ask them to go over the warranty with you.

As for that extended warranty that the dealership offered, don’t worry too much about it… yet. You can always pick up an extended warranty at a later time and date from a third party company. For now, you’re covered by the policy that came with your new car, and adding an extended warranty won’t make you any safer. It would be like wearing two gloves. However, as you get closer to the expiration date of your manufacturer’s warranty, you will want to start to keep an eye out for some reputable extended warranty providers, and start comparing prices and coverage. Remember that not every company will offer the same experience, and just because something was replaced for free by your old warranty doesn’t mean that a new, extended warranty will cover it as well.

So go out and enjoy your new car. You have auto warranty services that will protect you in the short term, as long as you keep up your end of the bargain, and keep your car well maintained with regular service visits. Remember that there’s nothing scary about a service visit, especially while your car is under warranty. You will pay for the regular oil changes and services, but anything else will be covered by your auto warranty services.
