Today it supports a major industry as well as a wonderful convenience and better standard of living for so many. But the negative aspects of this great invention are now becoming more apparent.

Consider the mess that cars are making of our beautiful natural world as they spread fumes and noise into a once serene environment. And in their production and usage, cars chew up Mother Nature’s resources at an increasing rate.

As in other industries the car companies’ drive towards achieving greater profits has changed the way cars are produced, marketed and sold to consumers. The product that manufacturers want to sell most is not your basic transportation needs, and the advertising departments work feverishly to influence your choices. They have done a good marketing job … Read More

In April 2009 Ford declared that it would not need government aid and claimed that it had a plan to break even in two years. Ford has been ahead of its main rival General Motors in scaling down its business by selling Aston Martin, Land Rover and Jaguar over the past two years. GM, meanwhile, went through a massive reorganization after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. GM is temporarily majority owned by US government after it invested $57.6 billion in the company.

Per the plan GM executives presented in congressional hearings the company would reach the break-even point by 2011. The History of German Automobiles

In 1870, when Nikolaus Otto and his partner Karl Benz independently developed their internal combustion engines, which were four-stroke at the time, Germany was placed on the map as the birthplace of modern autos and the history of German Automobiles had begun. During the latter part of 1870, Karl Benz began experimenting with their engine design and some how ended up attaching it to a couch. This would forever be the genesis of today’s modern automobiles. And by 1901, the country of Germany produced roughly 900 autos per year.

Robert A. Brady, an American economist, documented extensively Germanys rationalization movement which helped to mold their industry’s focus during the 1920s. While Bradys general theories about this movement were applicable to Germanys auto industry, the Weimar Republic in its latter years saw the industry in declining health. And because of Germany being extremely reticent when trying to develop its automotive industry, … Read More

Allocation of Bluesky – Goodwill in an Automobile Dealership Sale

The IRS defines goodwill as “the value of a trade or business based on expected continued customer patronage due to its name, reputation, or any other factor.” IRS Publication 535: Business Expenses, Ch. 9, Cat. No.15065Z.

The American Society of Appraisers defines goodwill as: “that intangible asset arising as a result of name, reputation, customer loyalty, location, products, and similar factors not separately identified.” And as “that intangible asset arising as a result of elements such as name, reputation, customer loyalty, location, products, and related factors not separately identified and quantified.”

Goodwill, however, can be separated into personal and business (enterprise) goodwill. Unlike enterprise goodwill, personal goodwill is the intrinsic value of services of a specific and identifiable person to a business.

The distinction between personal and enterprise goodwill is important insofar as: (a) saving taxes in the sale of businesses; and (b) dividing assets in a marriage.

Finding the Right Adjustable Automobile Pedal Extensions

Let’s face it, not everyone has a voluptuous model figure and legs that go on for miles like Heidi Klum does. In fact, many people have short legs and many more have issues with their size and weight. Unfortunately, size can be a problem for people who are in the driver’s seat of their car because it may hinder your ability to reach the foot pedals of the car or just make you generally feel uncomfortable behind the wheel. Your knees could be knocking on the underside of the steering column, you may be trying to stretch yourself both ways to reach the pedals and still be able to see over the dashboard, or you can pull your seat so close to the steering wheel that’s practically growing out of your chest, and that just won’t do. One solution to this size issue is finding the right adjustable automobile pedal … Read More
