Imagination extends mobile GPUs to automotive and data centres with 6Tflop B-Series


Up to 30% reduction in power and 25% area reduction is claimed over previous generations of Imagination GPUs. “B-Series is a further evolution delivering the highest performance per mm2 for GPU IP and offering new configurations for lower power and up to 35% lower bandwidth for a given performance target,” it said.

MIPI Alliance and IEEE Sign Agreement to Bring Automotive SerDes Standard to Broader Ecosystem

Collaboration intended to expand global availability of standardized, interoperable solutions for high-speed in-vehicle connectivity

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, today announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity, to facilitate adoption of the MIPI A-PHY specification as an IEEE standard. MIPI A-PHY v1.0 is the first industry-standard, long-reach serializer-deserializer (SerDes) physical layer interface for automotive applications such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous driving systems (ADS) and other surround-sensor applications, including cameras and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) displays.

“Our collaboration with IEEE is intended to bring the MIPI A-PHY SerDes specification to a broader ecosystem beyond MIPI’s membership, which in turn will foster greater interoperability, choice and economies of scale for the global automotive industry,” said Joel Huloux, Chairman of MIPI Alliance.

Mahle creates Germany mechatronics centre | Automotive Industry News

Mahle has created a new global development centre for mechatronics in Kornwestheim, near Stuttgart, Germany.

Around 100 engineers work at the location to develop complex product solutions for electric drive systems, actuators and electric auxiliaries for vehicles with hybrid, hydrogen, or battery electric drives.

Mahle has invested mid-double-digit millions to set up the centre. At the start of the year, the supplier founded a dedicated business unit for electronics and mechatronics. The technology group expects sales growth in this business segment to be well into double digits in the next ten years.
