The deals you might encounter on salvage-title vehicles these days are enticing ” late-model SUVs and luxury sedans, often with low miles, advertised for thousands less than comparable clean-history vehicles.

The vehicles are clearly marked as having a ‘branded’ title, a designation that has traditionally frightened off most shoppers, perhaps spooked by past ventures into the depths of Craigslist, where sellers spin tales of tiny little fender-benders that, somehow, led insurance companies to write off a late-model car.

They often turn up when you search online car-shopping sites and sort prices from low to high.

That’s because companies such as AutoSource, which has grown to 10 car lots in six states, Autolocity and dozens of local operators aggressively market branded-title

Driving sales: Demand high, inventory low for many auto dealers | Business

TUPELO • A truck carrying eight GMC trucks and SUVs was on its way to the Dossett Big 4 dealership last Wednesday. Before the vehicles could be unloaded, four had already been sold.

At Dwayne Blackmon Chevrolet, the redesigned 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is in high demand, and owner Dwayne Blackmon can’t get midsize SUVS and trucks fast enough. The Blazer saw its best quarter ever, with sales up 45%, General Motors said.

For automobile dealers, 2020 is shaping up to be a pretty good year, especially considering a rough second quarter when the pandemic shut down factories and consumers pulled back on spending. While sales for the year are lower compared to a year ago, most automakers’ third quarter sales improved from the second quarter.

“We’re up; we just wrapped up September, and it was better than last September,” said Rudy Dossett, whose dealership sells Buick, Cadillac and GMC. House

The Business Car Files: DS Automobiles

Date:

06 October 2020

  |

Author: Simon Harris

DS Automobiles, PSA’s technology leader, is on course to meet the EU’s carbon emission targets as it establishes itself as a premium brand. Simon Harris talks strategy with UK MD Alain Descat.

When we talked with Alain Descat late in July he was keen to share the news that DS Automobiles was the only multi-fuel premium car manufacturer to be comfortably in line with the EU average CO2 emissions target.

He told us the DS average for the first half of 2020 was 79.9g/km, while other premium car manufacturers (whose ranges were not solely electric) had not succeeded in going below 110g/km.

Manufacturers must meet an average of 95g/km this year for the cars they sell or risk fines imposed by Brussels. There is a formula that rewards the sale of pure EVs, and DS Automobiles

While most car insurance refunds for the pandemic have ended, some insurers are offering discounts as motorists drive less | Business News

For instance, Henrico County-based Elephant Insurance announced in August that it would offer a discounted rate to customers working from home. The company said policyholders and spouses working from home and driving less would be eligible to receive the new discount, depending on the number of days driven to work and the customer’s occupation.

“Some part of the work force will be working from home for a while, and as long as they work from home they deserve this consideration,” said Alberto Schiavon, Elephant’s CEO.

State Farm, the nation’s largest auto insurer, started reducing auto rates in every state in May because of changes in driving behavior.

The company said the national average for those rate reductions is 11%, saving customers a total of about $2.2 billion. Rate changes depend on a customer’s individual renewals.

State Farm said its rate reduction went in to effect on July 27 for new

Lincoln company to provide state with mobile COVID-19 testing trailers | Local Business News

Pacific Engineering

Nebraska is buying 10 mobile units from Pacific Engineering Inc., including five of the trailers shown here, to deploy as mobile COVID-19 testing units across the state for Test Nebraska.

Even though it doesn’t feel like it right now — with summerlike temperatures in the 80s — winter is coming.

And COVID-19 doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.

That presents a problem for Nebraska’s mobile testing operations, especially those set up in tents outside.

Earlier this week, Bryan Health moved its COVID-19 testing site from a tent at its Bryan LifePointe center near 27th Street and Pine Lake Road, to a former auto repair shop at Antelope Valley Parkway and O Street so it could have a place more protected from the elements.

Test Nebraska has similar issues, often operating out of tents or, in the case of its Lincoln site, under a parking
