In the automotive business when we refer to leftover cars, we are referring to vehicles that are still on the lot from the ending current model year. In other words, usually around late summer the next year’s models start hitting the dealer’s inventory.
So even though these units are still technically in their current model year, with next year’s models arriving in inventory, these vehicles become leftover cars.
So what does that mean to you as a car buyer?
The initial effect on a dealer as these new model year cars arrive isn’t that great. But as the year draws closer to an end you can bet that both the manufacturer and the dealer once these leftover cars to go away.
