Automobile service centres see dip in biz as WFH becomes new normal | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Thanks to workfrom-home, virus scare and travel restrictions, many automobile service centres in the city are witnessing a sharp drop in demand.
A majority of vehicle owners, particularly techies, have left the city and are working from their hometowns and villages. Some customers are reportedly reluctant to visit service centres due to virus scare.
MP Shyam, president (Karnataka chapter), Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association, said: “Vehicle usage has reduced mainly because of WFH. Service stations are seeing less demand for ‘body & paint services’ because of dip in accident cases in the city.”
Meanwhile, many cab drivers are deferring service since they are not getting adequate income. Karnataka State Travel Operators Association president K Radhakrishna Holla said: “We’re getting calls and mails from different distributors for periodic vehicle service. We’re not running our vehicles because of poor business, so we’ll give them for service only when the demand goes

Going once, going twice … multiple properties on the auction block | Local Business News

The properties range from the Stoysich House of Sausage 3,000-square-foot building in west Omaha to a 62-acre tract of land in Sarpy County.

In the case of two parcels, one in Bellevue and the other in northwest Omaha, the owner bought them a decade ago for bank branches that never materialized.

A 12-acre site in Bennington was once a developer’s desired spot for a townhouse project, but that plan changed.

Neary said the pandemic has prompted people to reassess many things, and property holdings are no exception. He said most of the sites to be auctioned were slated for commercial development, but the better use today might be residential.

He said this is the first multiple-property auction coordinated by Investors Realty brokers, and it might become an annual event. The auction also will be available online through Proxibid.

Inexpensive set of wheels: Small cars under $25k | Business News

The current Nissan Versa is a far better car than the one you might be picturing from years past. It has been recently redesigned and has a spacious trunk and plenty of safety and tech features at a reasonable price. The Versa sedan also has excellent fuel economy. On the downside, the Versa suffers from sluggish acceleration and a lack of interior storage for small items.

2020 Hyundai Accent

EPA-estimated fuel economy: 36 mpg combined (33 city/41 highway) with an automatic transmission

The Hyundai Accent’s strengths are its high fuel economy, comfortable ride quality, quiet cabin and spacious interior. Hyundai also has the best warranty in the business. So if you like to own your cars a long time, there’s good peace of mind. Take heed, though: The Accent sedan is pretty bare-bones, and the USB port struggles to charge modern phones. And if you want advanced safety aids, those

Palo Alto looks to launch ‘safe parking’ program for people living in cars | News

When Move Mountain View launched its “safe lots” program in 2018, it faced a daunting but critical mission: provide temporary shelter to the growing population of vehicle dwellers parked on city streets at two church parking lots and help these individuals obtain permanent housing.

Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the program both expanded and adjusted its mission. It added two large new Mountain View lots: one at Shoreline Amphitheater that can accommodate 30 vehicles and another at a former Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority site on East Evelyn Avenue and Pioneer Way with room for about 29 vehicles. Its lots became shelter-in-place havens for their inhabitants, with monthly testing for the virus, a food program that serves meals to residents and monthly visits from a medical team, said Amber Stime, the nonprofit’s executive director.

Its five lots accommodate about 132 individuals, Simes said. So far, all of them have

Man steals more than $4K worth of key fobs from Manheim Auto Auction by hiding them in his underwear: police | Local News

A Maryland man stole $4,630 worth of key fobs and key cards from inside vehicles at Manheim Auto Auction by “stuffing them into his underwear,” according to Northern Lancaster County Regional police.

Brendan Scott Gilbreath, 41, of Annapolis, Md., was arrested Thursday after Manheim Auto Auction security reported to police that Gilbreath got into vehicles with key fobs on the dashboard.

When security checked the vehicles after Gilbreath left, the key fobs were gone, police said.

On Thursday, security was conducting rooftop surveillance over “Area H” because 44 key fobs and key cards had went missing over the past two weeks, police said.

Gilbreath consented to a search and an officer found 10 key fobs in Gilbreath’s underwear, police said. Later, during a more thorough search at the police station, officers found three more, police said.

L’Annuel de l’Automobile 2021 available as of now | Car News

They say Canada is a land of two solitudes, and while in many ways that is less and less the case as we advance into the 21st century, for those interested in the automotive domain, there is a comprehensive resource that is widely known in French-speaking Canada, but less so elsewhere in the Great White North. We’re talking about the massive Annuel de l’Automobile guide, published yearly for the past 20 years.

This thick tome serves as a comprehensive guide for Canadian fans and consumers looking at acquiring a new vehicle, or who simply want to be up on all the developments in the industry.
