Broadhurst Grove village green sold again at auction

A PIECE of land in Lychpit has been sold at auction again, despite a council order that says it should be handed over to the authority.

As previously reported, residents in Broadhurst Grove and Saxon Way have been campaigning to save their ‘village green’ after it was put up for auction by the developers of the estate.

It was due to be handed over to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council 40 years ago when the estate was finished, but never was.

During lockdown, residents were given a shock when at least 73 cars passed through to view the piece of land.

And despite BDBC issuing a section 52 agreement, which would see the owner of the land hand it over to them for just £1, The Gazette has been told that it was auctioned off again last month.

After bumping into the purchasers shortly after the auction on September 9,

Judge wrongly dismissed lawsuit by customer who claimed auto dealer sold him a previously wrecked car: Pa. court

A county judge overstepped his bounds when he dismissed a lawsuit by a customer who claimed a car dealer had sold him a Ford Mustang that had been wrecked and rebuilt, a state appeals court panel has ruled.

Northumberland County Judge Charles H. Saylor tossed out the case Lawrence Pinno Jr. filed after finding Pinno had named the wrong defendants in the case.

That’s not so, the Superior Court found, so it reinstated the suit against the Blaise Alexander auto dealership chain and the Alexander employee who sold Pinno the car.

Pinno filed his suit in 2013, a year after buying the used 2005 Mustang from Alexander Buick Cadillac GMC Truck Inc. in Sunbury, Judge Mary Murray noted in the state court’s opinion.

Pinno, who has since died, contended he was told by the salesman that he didn’t want a car that had been previously damaged in any way. He

Lock of Lincoln’s Hair and Historically Important Telegram Sold for $81,250 at Auction

Boston – A thick lock of Abraham Lincoln’s hair and a historically significant telegram sold for $81,250, according to Boston-based RR Auction.

The hair was removed during his postmortem examination, measuring approximately 2″ long, and was presented to Dr. Lyman Beecher Todd, a cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln.

The hair is mounted to an official War Department manuscript telegram sent to Dr. Todd by George H. Kinnear, his assistant in the Post Office at Lexington, Kentucky, received in Washington at 11 PM on April 14, 1865.

Dr. Lyman Beecher Todd’s own account of the autopsy, now preserved in an 1895 manuscript held in the Ida Tarbell collection of Lincoln papers at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, differs slightly from his son’s, noting that he clipped the lock himself: “When all was over, General Hardin entered, and handed me a pair of scissors, requesting me to cut a few locks of

Get the easiest car phone mount ever for just $6.50 (Update: Sold out)

There are countless car mounts out there, and the problem with many of them is that they try just too darned hard — like magnetic mounts that require you to add a metal plate to your phone and automatic models that clamp onto your phone when you set it in the dock. This EasyAcc Car Phone Mount is a refreshing dose of simplicity, and it costs just $6.50 when you use discount code I2GS34BA at checkout. That’s 50% off the regular price of $13.

This mount clamps onto most air vents — anything with horizontal slats. If the slats are circular or radial, keep moving; there’s nothing to see here. Then just slide your phone into the holder, and like a sort of lobster trap, a pair of arms pivot upward and keep the phone securely in place. You can insert and remove the phone with one hand, and

Net Promoter Score (NPS): Real Deal or Have Car Dealers Been Sold a Lemon?

In the car sales arena Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are King: every sales statistic possible is monitored, from customer visits, test drives, sales, deliveries and finance penetration etc and now customer satisfaction. These KPI’s are benchmarked to provide an industry/dealer standard of performance.

It is believed that each KPI has a correlative effect on each other, in that the more people you see, the more you test drive, the more you sell: it is as they sales people say ‘a numbers game.’

Now we believe that we can reverse the algorithm and make KPI’s do the work. By delivering exemplary customer service, a customer becomes a net promoter, advertisement and an advocate for the company.

All we have to do is sit back and wait for the satisfied customers or ‘Net Promoters’ to drive the new customers, soon to satisfied and be transformed into promoters, into our businesses and reap … Read More

Salvaging Yourself From Being Sold Salvage Vehicles

Imagine being sold a used car that was involved in a severe accident but has been sold to you with only the minimum amount of repairs required to make the car look presentable. It would not only cost you more than it should but it would also be highly dangerous for you to be unaware of the hidden damage incurred by the car.

Salvage title

A salvage title is issued by a state motor vehicle agency to indicate that a car may not be safe to drive owing to damage incurred in an accident, flood or fire.

In many states in the USA, a salvage title is issued when the cost of repairing a damaged vehicle is more than 75% of its original value.

Insurance companies may also determine if a vehicle has been ‘totaled’ and declare it to be a salvage vehicle. The criteria used by an insurance company … Read More
